Mission Report:
I've been working hard to understand all that is going on at headquarters. This place is huge, although completely invisible to those who don't know it's here. A wonderful security feature. As such, I must refrain from putting the headquarters location in my reports, should they fall into the wrong hands. In continuing to get to know the commanders, I've spent some time around Mushroom, head of Recruitment. Mushroom has laid out the following missions:
Negotiate with the Giants
Hagrid had to give some very special magical gifts to the chief of the giants before he could begin negotiations. Make a gift that would impress a giant.
Potential Targets:
Anything to do with fire |
Work in Diagon Alley
Eeylops Owl Emporium |
Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions |
Scribbulus Everchanging Inks |
TerrorTours |
Other Targets: Check out a list of Diagon Alley Shops
I have also worked to be near seakame, head of Undercover Operations. There are two UC missions:
Work at Gringotts
Bill Weasley worked at Gringotts and tried to keep an eye on developments with the goblins. Craft something that the goblins would value. (Ex: intricate workmanship, inspired by metals or jewels, ancient pattern, etc.)
Potential Targets:
Use the new KnitPicks Stroll Glimmer or other metallic yarn |
Cables, cables, and more cables |
Other Targets: Jewel tone yarns, jewelry, intricate construction with lots of seaming
Spy on the Deatheaters
Severus Snape spied on He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named to gain information for the Order. He did so at great personal risk and was eventually killed by Voldemort. Snape walked a perilous line between two worlds. Craft something that works in two worlds.
Potential Targets:
Laptop cozy and other travel/office accessories for work & home |
Something reversible |
Other Targets: day/night (maybe a nice cardigan that pairs both with jeans and a dress), city/country (perhaps a shawl you can wear as a kerchief or fashionable accessory)
As a reminder to both myself and to you, these commanders are accepting BROOMs (Basic Requests for Official Order Missions) from September 14th to 24th. Once approval is given October 1st, Order members will have until November 30th to complete their missions. I have been told in the past week that missions should take approximately 6-8 weeks to complete.
I also have often heard the words "sell it." It appears that a very essential part of a successful BROOM is a good story -- and perhaps a wink and a smile would get you somewhere, too.
I do hope to soon be able to report on some of the other recruits I have met. Look for my next message in 7 days.
AbbyEBee, signing off.
This message will self-destruct in 10... 9... 8... 7...
