Felix Felicis Friday

Greetings house cuppers and congratulations on making it through another (or a first) month of classwork and quidditch.  As promised the last Friday of each month is now been declared Felix Felicis Friday when we celebrate being almost done and award a prize to one lucky commentator who answered the question of the month.
January's question was, "Which character from Harry Potter most resembles your yarn stash?"  There were many great answers some kind of sweet really.  And the winner is.....

Alethea
"I'm not sure I can defend this with logic, but my immediate thought was:  My yarn stash is most like Mad Eye Moody.  I'm actually really not sure I want to dig any further into that thought."

Congratulations Alethea you win a lovely skein of Fiber-Optica sock yarn in a glorious blue/purple/grey mix. May it be at home in your moody stash.  Please PM me your address in Ravelry and I'll send out my postal raven.

And the Felix Felicis Question of the Month for February is as follows.
You are invited to Severus Snape's birthday party and told that in order to get in the door you must craft one item for him.  What would you make him and why?

Leave your answer in this post's comments before February 24 to have a shot at the next prize awarded on February 25th.

That man needs some fingerless gloves to keep his hands warm down in the dungeon. I'd make them in a no-nonsense black.

My first thought is to knit him a little dress, but I suppose that would be more antagonistic than thoughtful. Instead, I would make him a little amigurumi Lily doll to snuggle with at night -- and a little Harry or James doll to crucio when he's feeling pissy.

I would craft a hat for Snape. That way he can hide that greasy hair.

I would knit him a doe-cozy (since everything that can be cozied should and will be cozied) but it would give his Patronus something to be warm when in the cold dungeon.

I would knit him a shampoo bottle cozy. For obvious reasons. Just to...you know...encourage him.

I would make him an enchanted book cozy, in understated charcoal, with a Slytherin green carrying strap. It would be enchanted to fit any size of book.

I'd knit him a chair cover with his own face in intarsia on it (the snape here: http://textiletransfigurations.blogspot.com/2009/10/harry-potter-blanket-squares.html) I'm sure he'd think I like him a lot while I can only smile imagine him sitting on his own portrait.

I think I would make a set of felted things in grey and green to aid in potion making - spoon rest, hot pads, ingredient bowls, towel for wiping up. I know he could use magic for a lot of it but it's yarn-bombing daily life that makes it fun. The cozy on my vacuum handle makes me smile while I work. I think the same could be true for Snape.

that man obviously needs some less-harsh undergarments. a quick change in wardrobe, a quick change in demeanour! goodbye taunt-worthy skivvies of his youth, hello handknit drawers of comfort!

I would craft him a "second gneration" expanding bag such as Hermione carried in Book Seven so he can carry all of his necessary potions and supplies with him at all times. Only, Severus's bag would have a built in organizational charm to prevent all of his things from tipping over, breaking, mixing together, and so on. It would be dreadful if he opened the bag only to find that volatile ingredients had combined and created a hazardous substance inside.

P.S.-- It would be totally awesome if the label for Felix Felicis Friday got added to the "Categories" links on the side of the blog's home page. :D Just sayin'

Oh, definitely a looooooong dark scarf, either black or grey, some kind of plush stitch, and with thin Slytherin green and silver accent stripes an inch or two from each end. NO FRINGE.
