Friday Giveaway!

Before we get on to this week's prize giveaway, I just want to send a shout-out to Lisakbye, last week's winner -- you didn't contact me so I don't know where to send your prize! Please message me on Ravelry to claim your prize.

Holy cats, you guys! I've been reading over the comments on the last giveaway post as they come in -- I can't believe some of you are turning in projects for your third and fourth classes! It boggles my sexy little Slytherin mind!

Before I get too boggled, however, let's get down to the awesome business of who won last week's Knitpicks pattern!

My complicated spell-work came up with a random number:

Picture 2
(spell-work so complex that it looks like I made it on a Muggle computer!)

...and the winner is:

Picture 1

Brie! Congratulations, Brie! Just send a message along to me on Ravelry and we'll get your prize to you!

This week's prize is being donated by the glorious Fosterson -- a sampler skein of his handspun! Just leave a comment, telling me how you plan to celebrate The Deathly Hallows Part One being released, and you'll be entered for a chance to win!

HP7 Part 1? I'm super excited and am probably going to have to go by myself since my HP buddy has moved to Ireland.

I'll probably drag my husband to see it on the first day off we have together once the movie's out. Though after seeing the trailer, I'm tempted to camp out for the midnight showing!

I'm not really sure of my plans. If I don't geek out and see it right away, I'll probably wait to see it at my school's theater where it's much cheaper than at home.

I plan on getting a baby sitter (woot woot!) and dressing up as a ravenclaw and heading out with my sister-inlaw, husband and any other friends i can drag out. I plan on squeeing as much as humanly possible and totally outgeeking every 12-17 year old in there!

I will probably have to wait to see it until the day after Thanksgiving. I definitely plan to go decked out as a Ravenclaw!

I'm planning to wear my OWL sweater I'm currently working on (it will be done in time, it will be done in time) and if it's not (or I'm back where it's cold) I'll be decked out in my Luna scarf and Hermione Hat :) I really want to go to the midnight showing, but it will all depend on where I am and if I have a job by then.

I am .....

- getting a babysitter
- wearing every house color anything I own, all together, because I am a walking House Unity Fashion Nightmare
- probably going to cry even though I don't do that
- dragging my husband so he has to be seen with me

I am making a sweater for Quidditch and who knows what else!

I plan to dress as Luna, with Dirigible Plum earrings, a Ravenclaw tie, and a long blonde wig. ;)

(Bidibid of Slytherin here, hi!)

I'm going to be dragging my husband off to see it. (He likes to say he doesn't care, but I know he secretly does.)

oh dear. I'm already crying at the previews, so I'm hoping that will prepare me to be tearfree for the actual movie. I'm rereading all the books (On Azkaban now- been reading slow). I'll be wearing my Ravenclaw traveling woman (Alina Shea yarn!) and either hufflepuff or slytherin socks (my own youngeryarn!) Usually I cast on simple stockinette socks to work on during movies, but I have a feeling I won't be knitting at all that night... ok, maybe just in the trailers...

Midnight showing! Hopefully in IMAX 3D, it was well worth it the last time! While wearing my Slytherin house scarf! Yay!

Its my birthday on the 16th, HP7 part1 comes out on the 19th, so birthday celebrations! Unfortunately I won't be able to see it at the cinema, I can't sit still for long enough with the fibromyalgia :(

My infant son and I will be dressed up in the movie. I'm making him a House Sweater, and I will wear either my House Sweater from last Fall's Muggle Studies OWL or the new Hermione sweater if I can have it designed and done by then.

I probably won't be able to get my husband to dress up though, unfortunately.

My fiance and I are going to head to a midnight showing in full costume--wizard robes, house pride pins, and scarves that we (oh-sickeningly and adorably) knit for each other!

Pixiewear (ravelry name) said...

I'll probably sneak off by myself to see it, since no-one in my house is old enough or interested enough to bother. But I know I'll enjoy it. And even tho' I'm in Gryffindor, I'll be wearing my Ravenclaw mitts, which I'm knitting for Quidditch. (Yeah, Love Gryffindor, but I really don't wear much red or gold...) Thanks for the chance to win!!

Stacy said...

I'm dragging my husband with me and hopefully wearing a Gryffindor scarf made in Malabrigo!

Well...
The baby is due about two weeks before it comes out so I'm not sure if I'm going to get to see it right away! Hopefully it'll still be in the cheap theatre by the time I'm comfortable leaving the new baby with a sitter.

I'm planning on getting a babysitter, donning all my slytherin colors and go out to scare the little kids by being one of the terrible slytherins. well mostly kidding on the scaring thing, but I will be seeing the movie on the release date and being all slytherin! I'm crazy knitting in slytherin colors for quidditch right now!

Honestly, I'm not even sure if I'll get to celebrate properly... I'm in the wrong country to enjoy seeing in the theater, and by the time it comes out on DVD, the celebrating mood will have moved on to something else. Otherwise I'd be at a midnight showing again :-)

Unknown said...

Oh surely I'd have to take my cozy invisiblity shawl, to be cozy curled up in the theatre. I made a wand cozy and would give it to get my good friend for her her HP addicted son and go to the show together.

Amy said...

I will go with my mother and my son, probably to the IMAX theater, and probably on a weekend.

Vertigo1414 said...

most likely dragging the Bf to it at some point.

I will hopefully be going to the release with my HP-obsessed friends. It was a lot of fun last time 'round!

Galena said...

I'm not going to make it to the midnight premier like I wanted. I'll probably wait til the Saturday after Thanksgiving and go see it with my sisters.

charlies_dragon said...

Hi. I will be going to the first screening I can physically get to with at least one of my best friends if not 2 of them & my younger brother. I will most likely be in some form of Harry Potter inspired witch-like attire, complete with hand kitted accessories :)

dovely said...

I'm actually thinking about waiting for Part 2 to come out and then seeing them both together. Sounds good in theory, we'll see if I can wait that long.

dorathalia said...

I'm horrible - I HATE seeing movies at the theatre, so I won't be there. My celebration will be when it comes out on DVD.

Joannie Newsome said...

For the movie release, I'll be leaving 80% of the children at home with my wonderful mother (baby probably won't be ready to stay behind), wrapping my Hufflepuff scarf 'round my neck and skipping off to the theater with my awesome husband. There might also be Mexican dinner so I don't have to cook. I love when I don't have to cook.

I plan on getting Babykins all dressed up like a little Slytherin and taking her to see it, I doubt she'll see much but she'll be there all snuggly. i may even be able to get back into all my Slytherin gear...lol...

Amy said...

My man and I are ready to go see it right away. We can't wait...first night!

Haven't made any definite plans yet, but it will be a rare movie in the theater for me!

I usually go to these movies on opening day so that's what I plan on doing. DH is a good sport and always comes along.

Stephanie said...

I'm hoping to go to a midnight release! I haven't been to one in a long time and I really want to go!!

Julie said...

I plan on going on the weekend, when DH can look after the children or even if my mother can look after them, so DH and I can go together. I am going to have popcorn, coke, lollies, and anything that I can take with me and I am going to eat my way through the movie...I just hope that they dont kill off Snape in the first half.

I haven't made plans yet - but of course I WILL GO!!! As will my eldest son. I figure it might be a little too dark for my 7 yr old; so it's just the eldest & myself.

Is there still time to leave a comment?!? I will be celebrating the opening of DH-pt1 by taking my 7 yo daughter to the midnight showing! I will be dressed as Molly, and she will be dressed as Hermione. (Hermione in the SS, to be specific.) Eldest may join us...depending on grades and attitude. lol

OK, I hate to say it but I'm one of those snobs who says things like "the movie wasn't as good as the book." I've only seen the first four movies, and then started to get disenchanted about all of the things they have to leave out to fit the story into a few hours. So, I think I'll be celebrating by staying home and re-reading the book!

Oh yeah - I'm SFCorgi.

Vintageenvy said...

Vintageenvy here!

I'm starting my celebration soon by rereading the 7th book. (I read it in such a frenzy when it first came out that I feel like I hardly remember it) And hopefully going to a midnight showing.

I'm a little sad about the timing though, usually my boyfriend and I go together to the midnight showing and play hookie the next day for work, but since this one is during the school year and I am 200 miles away from him we have to go separately. =(

ThingsTreasured said...

I'm so excited for it. Hubby and I will meet up with some of our best friends as we have done for the previous movies and go rock the midnight showing!

Stuartsmom said...

HP7.1? I'm going to start off by re-reading all the books once more, then inviting a bunch of friends to go see the movie together. With suitable attire, of course!

Delphine Garnier said...

Am I too late? - Anyways, I'm preparing for Part 7 by listening to all the books in the audio version read by gorgeous Stephen Fry. And for the movie itself, I'm probably going to a midnight premiere with my boyfriend and a bunch of friends. And I'm going to wear my Hufflpride House Tie! :)

MindySue said...

I plan on going with my SIL, niece and nephews. I am making some outer-wear so that we blend in with the muggles.

MopsyRoebuck said...

I will probably blink and miss it, and wait til it comes out on DVD - then probably watch Parts 1 and 2 together. However I am planning to re-read the books again very soon.

Well...

1. Ravenclaw pride knee-length socks in blue and bronze. My OWL project for this term.
2. Ravenclaw cardigan in blue and silver.
3. Dress up in the above so both book and film-verse fans can tell what house I belong to.
4. Find out which cinemas are planning a midnight opening.
5. Get the friend I was planning to go with back from Oxford. This bit might be the sticking point.
6. Go and show off my Ravenclaw pride to a roomful of sleepy Harry Potter fans.
7. Take notes on any and all knitwear showcased in the movie.

There we go. I'm a girl with a plan.

frimptes' deathly hallows pt.1 plans include a midnight release viewing & party (and of course i mean standing in line - in all my F10Qhufflepuff attire of amazing, i'm even planning a pillow for our house pride exhibition days for comfort of theater camping!) followed by early morning cavorting & frivolity ... with a little chicanery mixed in for funsies. ok, actually we'll probably just go to cracker barrel (: but it will be legendary!
