  • In the forum this month, zanahoria's research on House Astrological Signs is up!
Question of the Month:
If you have just ONE magical wish for your birthday, what would you wish for? Write your answer as comments to this post!

To be pregnant with Baby #2. We have been trying for several months now and it is frustrating because it took less than a month of trying to get our son.

I would wish for a clean apartment. Just because that would be really nice.

Knitpicks Harmony needles. Which is exactly what I'll be requesting for my birthday this December!!

Zanahoria's analysis, even if it's not that scientific, has got to be one of the most interesting things that I've read about astrology lately.

The ability to make magic and the wisdom to use that right.

I would wish for my own group of house elves to help me with the apartment and keeping up with my craft business.

If I had one magical wish... to be pregnant with our first baby. We've been trying for two years and things aren't going well. That would be the best magical wish. :)

Well, if it's a magical wish, then I'd wish for a never ending supply of yarn (all weights and colors). Or patience to deal with longer projects (scarves, shawls, sweaters, blankets, etc. drive me nuts!).

I would wish for a magic quill...I have a paper which needs written quickly!

my magical wish would be for world peace (wait this isn't a beauty contest) really i'd wish for self washing and self folding and putting away laundry! it's a never ending annoyance
that or my own yarn store!
Also i'd like to have another baby.

I'd wish for an organizational system I could stick to. My apartment looks like a tornado hit it. And you can't put anything away if it doesn't have a place to belong!

Magical? A time-turner! Then i could get all the knitting i have to do done, and also maintain a semblance of the elusive thing i've heard is called a "social life."

I would like a set of Molly Weasley's self-knitting needles. Then maybe my Divination project would be done in time!

I'd wish for a neverending bag of money or gold that would produce just enough each month to cover our bills (including student loans!). That way we could stop stressing out about money and where it's coming from, and just focus on living our lives!

Magical wish? My own brownie. Not the food-kind, the cleans your house when you're not looking kind, as long as you leave out bread and milk and are careful not to thank them. Because between the Big Ninja and the Small Ninja, my house is NEVER clean.

I know it was said already but i'd also wish for a neverending money bag. That way I could quit working in a job i hate.

I know this is going to sound sickly sweet - but it's my 21st birthday in a couple of weeks and I think I'm getting everything I could want - magical or not. A kitten, a spinning wheel, a kindle and a teacher training course complete with bursary that covers our rent (to the pound!) Bliss.
Oh, except a pixie that sorts out the cat litter and laundry. I'm drowning in laundry. If not a pixie, then a tumble dryer? Please?
lots of love, katykatkins

For health insurance along with never empty moneybag. Maybe all I need is the moneybag...then I could afford the premiums.

PaulasHook from Hufflepuff here... As mercenary as this sounds, I would like enough money to be comfortable. That way, I could have a home with enough space for my stuff (my own room with a door would be nice), and without moisture problems causing the floor to have issues. Also, I could have a reliable car and keep it maintained. And these dang hospital bills (left over AFTER insurance) would be history and not hanging over my head.

I'd like to charm my home office to be self-cleaning. That way when my cats get into my yarn stash, it will clean itself before I ever see it. I think my little cat would like this too - she'd get into a LOT less trouble. :)

How about a nonviolent solution to conflict in the Middle East and elsewhere? Or on a more personal level, a Slytherin hottie of my very own. It would take some very strong magic to accomplish either of these wishes. ~folk/Slytherin

Selfishly? I'd like a time turner so I could earn money AND keep a clean home AND knit as much as I please.

But unselfishly? An immediate solution to global warming that doesn't take up all the world's supply of fresh water.

I would do a lot for the ability to magically find lost things. You could ask and I'd know -- where is my other shoe? Where is the green marker lid? Where is my special blue blankie? I'd never have to hear any of that again. -- JMN

One magical wish. Just one, and a magical one. Not a spiritual one, not a material one.

If I'm feeling heart-directed, I would want the ability to communicate with trees.

If brain-directed? Housecleaning spell, natch!

For my birthday I love to have someone to clean my house and to keep it clean or a time-turner so I had the time.

I would wish for my apt to be clean and kept that way!! or maybe for my yarn to be perfectly organized. hrm... -knitpsycho

A whole day, no, week to myself. I'm a single mom of an autistic 4 year old. I work all day then come home and take care of my son all night. I love him dearly, but it can be a little bit challenging since he does little by himself, and sometimes has trouble communicating. The only time I have to myself is between 4-7pm on Fridays when his dad takes him. I spend this time mowing the lawn, vacuuming, sewing, and doing other things I can't do when my son is home because of his sensory issues.

If I could wish for one thing from the Potterverse it would be Hermione's beaded bag. You could carry EVERYTHING! No more worrying about what yarn to pack.

In the Muggle world I would wish for Barbara Walker's stitch dictionaries and some fiber from Sereknity's Etsy shop.

One magical wish? Hmm.. To have enough time in each day to get everything done that needs to be done. The list is always growing..

Toad said...

The ability to vanquish pain, for myself and for others, both physical and emotional, on demand. Sometimes you need pain to grow through whatever it is, but other times, it just hurts.

One magical wish, to snap my fingers and have the whole house clean, that way I could spend more time with my children playing and having fun, and also more time knitting!

Maharetina said...

A time turner! I wish I had a few extra hours every day - and no-one who needs my attention during that time ;)

I would wish for a new house. This rental is moldy and gross and I hate coming home to it. :(

Sweet City Knits said...

I wish my basement was magically fixed and finished. It leaks, it's moldy, the stairway is dangerous, and the dog relieves himself down there when he can't get outside. When we bought the house, nearly 5 years ago, our dream was to finish it to make a playroom, laundry room, extra bedroom with bath, and a craft room for me. Now I NEVER go down there, it's terrifying.

Michelle said...

I would also go for the never-ending money bag. Just enough to cover the bills and finally pay get health insurance, oh and have enough to refinance to a different mortgage company since ours are morons.

Terrie said...

Put me down for a house elf, too! ...one who cooks as well as cleans.

I'm not sure world peace is all it's cracked up to be, and everyone else has a bunch of good wishes...

I wish those who wish to be pregnant to be pregnant or not, healthy, wealthy or wise, and for all my friends to have one more skein of yarn or batt of fiber than they can knit, crochet or spin.
