The last Friday of each month is Felix Felicis Friday. On these fortuitous days, I will post a question. Leave an answer in the comments and you may be selected to win a prize!
Here is our Felix Felicis question for January:
The Malfoy family is one of the most well-known and affluent wizarding families. Narcissa Malfoy, the family matriarch, is a dedicated follower of fashion. If you had to craft one item of ‘high wizarding fashion’ clothing, so as to blend in at the Malfoy's annual New Years Ball, what would you create and why?

I'd create a delicate fascinator in grays and blacks. I'd make one with lots of soft textures: velvet, feathers, lace; and with netting to droop over my face, drawing attention away from my identity.
I LOVE the fascinator idea, but my first instinct was a pair of lace opera gloves, in black with accents in silver and dark green (they are pretty much all Slytherins, after all). Something like Ysolda's Farinelli gloves, but with beads.
I may now have to make exactly these gloves.
I would make this mask:

It is delicate, veering slightly into decadence, and thoroughly fashionable and elitist.
It has the added advantage of disguising the identity, the better for secret, shadowed liaisons, alliances, and dalliances.
I would make a tapestry-patterned sash to wear Czarina Alexandra-style over a ridiculously expensive dress robe. No excuse to look like anything less than royalty at a party full of wizarding society's elite. ;D
I would, honestly, knit up a hooded scarf utilizing a wonderful cashmere in a dusty emerald green adding a bit of silvery thread and green chez glass beads to the edges.
Some delicate lacy fingerless gloves to be worn with my best set of dress robes. Fingerless gloves are ALL the rage in Wizard High Society right now.
I already have just the thing queued up! I was wondering where I would wear them because they are too extravagantly wonderful not to make.
Next year's holiday party at the Malfoy's is just the place! I can't wait to see Narcissa's face.

I would go with a simple, yet high quality material hat with a short veil. There is nothing quite like a veil for a bit of new years allurement and mystery (especially with a bit of smoky eye makeup)! Made with a bit of satin, silk, or velvet (depending on the dress) and some small flowers or feathers (not TOO overdone, dahhhhling...)
I would knit a simply chic set of black floor length robes with black pearl and diamond trim. This would be Couture enough to allow me entry to the Malfoy mansion, but bland enough to not draw attention to my personage.
I think I would have to go with this fascinator in a soft grey color:

Then I'd make wee beaded spiders in various shades of black and silver to put all over it!
I would make these gloves: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/alice-caterpillars
In green and silver tones, because the yarns used are so soft and luxurious, and really show of class and wealth.
I think I'd make a black lace shawl. Something with beading and a ruffle trim. Definitely a soft yarn to show off the technical stitch pattern that I would use. Hmmm, now to go browse pattern ideas.....
I think a very elegant Shawl, something that shows taste but is also timeless in it's attraction
Cattiekins
I would make this outfit and be a showstopper at every turn!

If I were attending the Malfoy's Ball, I would craft and wear Evenstar.

Paired with an elegant strapless black dress.
I've been wanting a cloak. So i'd craft a beautiful flowing cloak. Or maybe a shawl. it's so hard to pick!
I would craft a black Plumeria Shawl (HERE:http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/plumeria-frill ) and flip up the back as to make a high collar. It would very fashionable, and I would blend in with all the other black-wearing wizards there.
I would knit that lovely black caplet with the intarsia silver swirls that I've been dreaming about, using only the best cashmere yarn and a handmade silver clasp, of course.

a simple cloak, black with maroon and silver accents. it would only come down to my lower back as to not make me look any shorter than i already am.
I think the Shipwreck Shawl, http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/shipwreck-shawl, would be the perfect garment to wear to such a special event. I would knit it with a very fine black mohair with just a touch of silvery sheen so that it would shimmer and change color depending on the angle of the viewer. Also, the shawl should have an touch of invisibily thread woven into it. So, if need be, you could pull it over your head and blend into your surroundings.
I would knit a black circular shawl something that could cover my head if I wished, but easiy enough to fold in half and wear pinned as well. Also not too many beads.
I would make a large dark green Aeolian Shawl with silver lined green beads. (Sparkly, but subtle, elegant, and large enough to completely hide me if need be.)

rav name: briezee
A black and green pinstriped corset to be worn with a long, wide, black skirt. And a delicate black lace shawl.

I'm not sure if it's too late to comment for this, but I would make a Notorious (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/notorious-2). I can just see Narcissa in a super fashionable fascinator.
I would create a dress similar to this one: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/jofaliina/evenstar-shawl (absolutely stunning, and adapted from a shawl design!!!!!!), but I would make it longer (floor-length, with a short train), with longer sleeves that just grazed by knuckles (and flared out at the hand). And it would be in a stunning dark green (because the Malfoys are Slytherins!), with silver accents, and I would wear silver jewelry and shoes.
