WB FINALLY released a teaser trailer. It's about stinking time. Hopefully we will have a full blown trailer here in a few weeks. Here's a linkety link for all those who have not seen it yet. The Trailer
We have a date. And I really am excited by it. I will be back from trips and settled into the mom routine. My 5 year old goes to kindergarten a few days later and all will be well with the world. I'll be knitting! (Or passing out the points... whatever).
There has been some debate about what this competition is all about. In my mind the teachers (with some creative help from me, cuz I'm nosy like that) will come up with the assignments for the class. Your goal is to finish the assignment to the best of your ability before it is DUE. It's a lot like school, but knitting/crocheting and centered around HP stuff.
I might also have a best finished object competition that will be voted on by everyone.
Someone even mentioned maybe doing a swap. I'm not sure. I've been burned on swaps so bad in the past. But, I wouldn't be opposed to swapping. I seem to have me a good team of people on board helping me out so a lot of work I thought I was going to do is now being taken care of! Maybe I'll have time to organize a swap!
Or maybe we can do a Bookmark attack type thing very much like the Hat Attack. I know the basics behind those and they seem pretty competitive.
Let me know what you think. Either here or on Ravelry.
I'm trying to get a good idea of when to start the awesomeness that is the House Cup. Please vote on the poll to your right. THANKS!
NEW: SEPTEMBER 5th IS NOW SEPTEMBER 1ST, WE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE COOL TO START ON THE SAME DAY HOGWARTS DOES.
As we are still in the planning stages for the competition. Which will most likely start the end of August and go until either Halloween or the opening of the 6th movie. I know, it sounds like a long time... but if one of the classes requires you to make a shawl..... you get my drift. I started this competition to help people get ready for the release of the Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince movie. We will all be decked out quite nicely, I think.
There will be the four houses like in the books and each are headed by a Head of House. The Head of House is responsible for getting their team to win. They will have to make sure that they are represented by at least one member of their house in all the competitions.
The Headmistress (that would be me PrincessOnica), the Groundskeeper (Jane-H-Potter) and the Caretaker (hilltopkatie) will be passing out the points and generally keeping the peace.
Some examples of class assignments:
History of Magic- Harry Potter Trivia
Potions- combining 2+ colors and/or fibers and knit/crochet a project
Charms- make a knitting accessory or tool
You get the point. Points will be awarded for degree of difficulty, level of completion and my favorite.... wit.
I'm still working on a prize for the winning house other than the blog being decorated in the winning house's colors. If you are a pattern designer and have come up with a Harry Potter pattern that you wouldn't mind donating to the winning House, that would be AWESOME!!!
The Harry Potter Knitting/Crochet House Championship Cup is set to start soon! We have lots of great things planned... earn points in the following competitions:
History of Magic
Transfiguration
Potions
Defense Against the Dark Arts
Herbology
and much more!
You do have to be a member of Ravelry to play. Membership is free. Once you register (or if you already are) make sure you join the HP Knitting/Crochet House Cup Championship group. This is where the competition will happen! Lots of information is there already.
Anyone and everyone is invited. Come one and all. If you invite friends to play you can earn 5 house points for each person you refer! Best of luck.
